Bollywood Dance. A vibrant dance form based on India’s popular Bollywood music. It comprises of a fusion of various dance forms(Indian and Western) but is particularly known for its gestures, expression, versatility and buoyant energy. It is a fun dance form with its own nuances and peculiarities.

Anish is presently pursuing a degree course in Masters of Fine Arts/Choreography at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance

Anish Popli is a young and dynamic choreographer with a vision to match.

A qualified software engineer, he gave up a lucrative career in the IT industry to follow his dream and put his focus and energy to fuel his passion for dance.

He underwent rigorous training for several years, gaining not just technical knowledge of various forms of dance, but experience in direction and creative visualisation as well.

He has trained in Jazz, Hip-Hop, Contemporary, Contact Improv and the Latin American dance forms of Salsa, Bachata and Merengue. Constantly striving for personal growth and firm in his belief that learning is a continuous process, he underwent training in the UK, in 2010 and again in 2011 and 2012 where he attended several classes at renowned dance institutes like Trinity Laban, The Place, Pineapple Dance Studios, Greenwich Dance Agency, Siobhan Davies Dance,  Danceworks, Phoenix Dance Theatre, Rambert Dance Company and Richard Alston Dance Company among others, to understand technique and advance his learning.

He has also attended workshops conducted by stalwarts like Akram Khan and Hofesh Schector.

Anish also participated in Dance Platform 2010, a week long, full time Contemporary Dance Workshop for professional dancers, facilitated by Philippe Saire, organized by the Gati Foundation, conducted in collaboration with Pro Helvetia-Swiss Art Council and Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan, the Feldenkraisworkshop conducted by Michel Casanovas and the Flying Low Technique conducted by David Zambrano, as well as various other workshops organized by the GatiFoundation as the opportunity presents itself.

Anish has trained in Theatre under Barry John whom he worked extensively with on Programs such as Theatre in Education and gained a diploma in acting from The Barry John Acting Studio. He went on to work in documentaries for National Geographic and Doordarshan; and Theatre productions for Barry Johns Acting Studio. The experience he has gained working with various artistes combined with his talent and research in theatre as well as dance has enabled him to come up with a module of Dance in Education that emphasizes on expression through body movement.

A pioneer in this methodology, he is experimenting with this module in some of the top schools in Delhi and NCR.

He has also gained a certification in Stotts Pilates and has developed his own dance fitness program- CONFITDANCE that combines a high powered cardio using Salsa, Bachata,Bhangra and  Bollywood, combined with Pilates and Yoga to give a holistic workout experience.

In 2006, he founded Choreotheque Dance Studio, a training ground for dance enthusiasts, which now boasts of centres across Delhi, and its own state-of-the-art in-house studio in Vasant Kunj, with a large no of students across the centres and hugely talented instructors.

He has had the honour of choreographing the mass PT with 100 cadets in 2010 and 1400 cadets in 2011 and 2012 for the NCC Prime Minister’s Rally, New Delhi, India.

He has also been regularly choreographing events for Corporate houses and schools in New Delhi.

With drive, energy and vision to match, Anish has taken his company from its nascent stage to a pulsating, vibrant institute.

Anish believes that it is as important if not more, to share his learning, in order to keep a constant flow of creativity. His thirst for learning equals his willingness to teach, which ensures that his students as well as instructors are never stagnant.

Creating choreographies that are lauded for their originality and creativity,  Anish’s aim is to reach out to people through the medium of dance.

With matchless passion and drive, Anish is constantly on the move- learning, sharing and creating.
