Out of the Shadows is a storytelling workshop for children developed by the “Hope For Children” UNCRC Policy Center’s EMBRACE team. Departing from the traditional Greek “Karagkiozi”  shadow puppet tradition, the programme begins with an introduction to shadow theatre and it’s characters, approaches theatre dialogue, story creation and narration, ending with children’s own creation of a shadow theatre puppet and story representation

A shadow theatre storytelling workshop for children. The program is structured as follows:

  • Getting to know the children, introduction to the shadow theatre and “Karagkiozi”
  • Presentation of shadow theatre dialogue
  • Narration of a short story, orally or through the use of shadow theatre
  • Children create a shadow theatre puppet that represents themself in the story
