Embrace, Our Journey
EMBRACE, Our Journey – installation
Presented by Hope for Children (Cyprus).
The installation entrance is from the right hand side-doors of the theatre/main auditorium.
An installation based on a collective storytelling exercise by the minors at the shelter for unaccompanied minors Home for Hope with the support of the creative team of the programme “EMBRACE: Rehabilitation & Integration through Arts and Culture” programme aimed at the rehabilitation and integration of vulnerable children through culture and art.
This storytelling lane recreates the entrance corridor of Home for Hope, visitors are invited to enter the shelter and experience it at different points:
a) Dark Room: “Sounds of the shelter” (audio recordings of everyday sounds)
b) Narration corridor: “The personal journey lane” (narrations and illustrations of individual stories created by the boys)
c) Participatory exit: “The shared storytelling chamber” (conceived as a participatory ending, it presents a short film of the collective story created by the boys at the shelter, inviting visitors to share their own stories, experiences, thoughts)
