UNIMA Italia makes official presentation for the Puppetry Archive to UNESCO
On Monday 8th June at the Ministry of Culture in Rome,Unima Italia – Italian branch of the International organisation UNIMA – are holding a conference to make an official presentation of their Puppetry Archive to UNESCO’S Memory of the World Register. Mulab and the ECLN Network wishes partners and colleagues of UNIMA Italia all the success they deserve for this incredible archive. The Archive Unima/Italia contains about 2000 manuscripts dated from the beginning of the 18th Century to the first half of the 20th Century. It is a collection of plays for traditional Italian puppet and marionette shows. Puppetry has been very popular all over Italy in different times, contexts, and regional traditions. The Archive is a unique and rare testimonial of a form of communication aimed to transport audiences into a magical world.
